Tip2Tip (Gibraltar to John O'Groats)

After a lot of hit and miss with this new challenge, I have recently had a possitive bit of news in the right direction.

Check out my Blog for update....

I'm now considering my next charity challenge for 2012/13, a slightly longer distance than the 'Toe2Toe' ride. This one, called 'Tip2Tip' takes me from San Roque (Tip of Spain) to John o Groats (Tip of UK) via Valencia and Lands End, a total of 3800km (2400m). Once again it will be done in stages so as I can set the fastest possible average speed and treat it like a realistic tour!

All this is only in provisional stages at present, as everything depends on sponsorship...I will keep you informed of any progress.

Working with former Tour de France stage & mountains jersey winner Gert Jan Theunisse I would like to introduce the 'Poco Loco' Training Camps with Gert in 2012. Covering from January until June, Gert will be offering various types of camps to suit all abilities.

My personal challenges and charity rides will continue to be reported on this site but a new website promoting the "Poco Loco" Training Camps is under construction. I also have a new blog dedicated to my work on the cycle training camps. There are already several camps to choose from, for more details see the Poco Loco Cycling Blog.

Mallorca Training Camp

From the 12th to 19th June 2011 myself and Warren Giddins will be having a 7 days training in Majorca with former Tour de France stage winner Gert Jan Theunisse who has lived there for many years and has built-up a superior knowledge of the island's roads in which has proved invaluable as he is the road coach to the Milram Pro Tour team when they come to Majorca for early season training. I will be doing a daily blog of the rides through my Facebook page.

A report on the training camp with Gert-Jan Theunisse is now available on my Poco Loco Cycling blog.

Fibrax Wrexham Tour of Cornwall 2011

I have now completed a short review of the training camp, please follow this link to blog page.  The report on the Tour of Cornwall training camp with Fibrax Wrexham RC and Tri-Logic Cornwall is also now available on my Poco Loco Cycling blog together with some much appreciated reviews of the Tour.

Photos of the camp are now gradually being uploaded so please follow this link to gallery.

Just returned from a fantastic 10 day trip to Israel, where I competed in a very tough Tour of Israel, which started in the north and 5 stages later finished in the stunning holiday resort of Eilat, over 700km to the south. (Click here to blog)

The new season is about to start and my first race is going to be a real leg buster as I'm competing in the 5 day Tour of Israel in March.

The Toe2Toe challenge has recently had a publication in November 09 issue of 'ultrafit' magazine. I would like to thank editor John Shepherd for a great article and his support with this event.

We are nearly there, with 12 of the 17 stages now downloaded. Apologies for the long delay, but they take an age to upload! You will see that we are now entering the big mountains and remember I didn't have closed roads on the descents or huge crowds on the climbs...truth is, it was super hard on my own and I could have done with a lower gear...39 x 25, not ideal...hellish views though! Please follow link:

This cycling challenge through 3 countries is endorsed by Olympic Rowing Gold Medalist and Adventurer James Cracknell.
